You may be entitled to help with childcare costs

Depending on your circumstances, support may be available through Universal Credit childcare costs, Tax-Free Childcare, the student Childcare Grant or the government's HAF programme. Eligible working families may be able to claim back up to 85% of registered childcare costs, subject to current government limits and individual circumstances. Eligibility is decided by the relevant government scheme, not by Legends Care. We can explain our fees and provide the information you need to explore your options.

If you are a full-time higher education student with dependent children, including those studying at the University of Huddersfield or the University of Bradford, you may be eligible for a Childcare Grant covering up to 85% of your registered childcare costs. Working parents receiving Universal Credit may also be able to claim back up to 85% of eligible childcare costs, making high quality care considerably more affordable.

Eligibility and payment are handled by Student Finance England. If approved, your grant is paid into your Childcare Grant Payment Service (CCGPS) account, and your childcare provider is paid from there. The Childcare Grant can be used during the school holidays as well as term time.

Kinship and sibling carers

Eligibility depends on the specific scheme and the carer's legal or household circumstances. Legends Care cannot determine entitlement.

HAF holiday places

Eligible children can access free HAF holiday activities and a healthy meal at our Oak House and Willow Lane sites. Eligibility is confirmed through Kirklees Council.

About HAF Holiday Clubs

You cannot usually claim a Childcare Grant at the same time as Tax-Free Childcare or the childcare element of Universal Credit. Check GOV.UK to see which is right for you.

Questions parents ask about Fees and Funding

How much does childcare cost?

Morning care is £14 (£9 community-supported), afternoon care £23 (£15), extended care £31 (£20), a full day £45 (£29) and holiday club £23 (£15). Monthly memberships start at £460.

What is the community-supported rate?

Families who do not receive external childcare funding may qualify for our 35% community support discount. Eligibility is confirmed during enrolment.

Can I use my Childcare Grant here?

Yes. Legends Care is delivered through our Ofsted-registered parent organisation, Tuition Time Hub, so eligible student parents can use their Childcare Grant with us. Eligibility and payment are handled by Student Finance England.

How much is the Childcare Grant?

For 2025/26 it covers up to 85% of your registered childcare costs, up to £199.62 a week for one child or £342.24 a week for two or more children. The amount depends on your household income and circumstances.

Can I use the Childcare Grant for holiday clubs?

Yes. The Childcare Grant can be used for registered childcare during the school holidays as well as term time.

Can working families get up to 85% too?

Eligible working families may be able to claim back up to 85% of registered childcare costs through Universal Credit, subject to government limits and circumstances.
