Parents questions
Choosing care around the school day involves more than checking an opening time. Parents want to know where their child will go, which school routes are covered, what the day may include, how much it costs and what happens after an enquiry. This page brings those answers together.
Morning and after-school care opens from September 2026. Holiday clubs are already operating on published dates.

A welcoming, purposeful environment designed for children and young people aged 5 to 16. We tailor our approach to ensure activities and expectations respect the maturity of every age group, providing reliable care around the school day.
Legends Care is a Huddersfield morning, after-school and holiday-care service for children and young people aged 5–16. It is designed to give parents reliable care around the school day and give children a purposeful, welcoming place to settle, receive support, take part in activities and build confidence.
Legends Care is powered by Tuition Time Hub and draws on its experience supporting children and families in Huddersfield. Legends Care remains the public identity used for the morning, after-school and holiday-care service While Tuition Time Hub is the main body behind.
The name reflects the belief that every child is developing their own character, confidence and story. A ‘legend’ at Legends Care is not someone who is perfect or famous. It is a child learning leadership, empathy, growth, excellence, resilience, discovery and self-belief.
Legends Care is designed for children and young people aged 5–16. Parents should provide the child’s current age during enquiry so the team can discuss the relevant setting, programme and care requirements.
No. The service is designed for a wider school-age group from 5 to 16. Activities and expectations should be appropriate to age, maturity and the published programme rather than treating every child as though they are in a nursery environment.
Morning and after-school provision at Willow Lane and Oak House is planned to begin from September 2026. Holiday clubs are already operating on published dates.
02
Willow Lane is at Willow Lane, Huddersfield, HD1 5EB. Oak House is at 89 Fitzwilliam Street, Huddersfield, HD1 5LG.
Willow Lane is the confirmed Legends Care setting for Birkby Infant School and Birkby Junior School.
Oak House is the confirmed Legends Care setting for Spring Grove and Brambles Primary Academy.
For morning and after-school care, the correct setting is normally determined by the confirmed route linked to your child’s school. Birkby Infant and Birkby Junior link to Willow Lane. Spring Grove and Brambles Primary Academy link to Oak House.
Only the schools shown on the website should be treated as confirmed routes. Parents can still enquire so the team can record interest in another school, but the enquiry must not be treated as confirmation that collection is available.
Direct-drop-off arrangements depend on the service, programme and setting. Parents should explain what they need during enquiry so the team can confirm whether the requested arrangement is available.
The relevant setting normally depends on each child’s school route. Parents with children at different schools should explain the full situation during enquiry so the team can discuss the available arrangements.
timings & flexibility
03
Morning care begins at 7:30am and runs until the school-day handover or school run, ending at approximately 9:00am.
Parents can choose afternoon care until 5:30pm or extended care until 6:30pm.
Afternoon care runs from 3:00pm to 5:30pm. Extended care covers the same after-school period but continues until 6:30pm.
Legends Care provides morning care, after-school care, extended care, published holiday clubs and a personalised-care discussion during enrolment.
Flexible individual sessions are available alongside monthly memberships, subject to availability. Parents should state the weekdays required during enquiry.
No. Flexible sessions are available for families who do not need a Monday-to-Friday membership, subject to the places available on the required days.
Children may have opportunities for homework support, creative activities, active play, games, STEM-style sessions, values-based learning, workshops, social time and space to unwind. The exact daily programme varies.
No. Activities depend on the published or daily timetable, age group, staffing, suitability and the agreed priorities for the child.
Homework can be discussed as part of a child’s care priorities, but the exact level and timing of support depends on the daily programme and the child’s agreed plan. It should not be described as formal private tuition unless a separate service has been explicitly confirmed.
Food arrangements should be confirmed for the specific service or holiday programme. Parents should not assume that breakfast, hot meals or a particular menu are included unless they have been explicitly confirmed.
prices & memberships
04
Morning care from 7:30am to 9:00am costs £14 at the standard rate or £9 at the community-supported rate.
Afternoon care from 3:00pm to 5:30pm costs £23 at the standard rate or £15 at the community-supported rate.
Extended care from 3:00pm to 6:30pm costs £31 at the standard rate or £20 at the community-supported rate.
The approved full-day tariff from 7:30am to 6:30pm is £45 standard or £29 community-supported where that tariff is confirmed to apply.
The published holiday-club rate is £23 standard or £15 community-supported. Where a separate full-day tariff applies, this should be stated clearly in the published timetable or enrolment information.
The community-supported rate is a Legends Care discount intended to help qualifying families who do not receive external childcare funding. It is separate from government schemes such as Universal Credit or Tax-Free Childcare.
No. Families without external childcare funding may qualify for the 35% community support discount, but eligibility is confirmed during enrolment.
Legends Essential costs £460 per month and provides Monday-to-Friday afternoon care from 3:00pm to 5:30pm.
Legends Prime costs £600 per month and provides Monday-to-Friday after-school care from 3:00pm to 6:30pm.
Legends Ultimate costs £840 per month and covers Monday-to-Friday care from 7:30am to 6:30pm plus holiday provision. Exact holiday inclusions and exclusions are confirmed during enrolment.
Parents can discuss their required pattern during enquiry or enrolment. Any change depends on availability and the final enrolment arrangements.
Legends Care accepts cash, card, Direct Debit and standing order. Specific payment dates and enrolment terms are confirmed separately.
Eligible working families may be able to recover up to 85% of registered childcare costs through Universal Credit, subject to current rules, limits and individual circumstances. Parents must check their own eligibility through the current government process.
No. Universal Credit childcare support is not a Legends Care discount. Eligible parents usually pay the childcare provider and then follow the Universal Credit process to recover an approved amount, subject to the current rules and limits.
Tax-Free Childcare is a government scheme through which eligible working families can receive a top-up in a childcare account. Parents must check the current eligibility rules and confirm that their chosen provider can receive payments through the scheme.
Usually not. Some childcare-support schemes cannot be used at the same time. Parents should check the current government rules before choosing or changing a scheme.
Some eligible full-time higher-education students with dependent children may receive support through the Student Finance Childcare Grant. Eligibility and payment arrangements are determined by Student Finance England, not by Legends Care.
Student childcare support depends heavily on the course type and study status. The Student Finance England Childcare Grant is not a universal scheme for every student. Parents should check the current rules for their particular course.
Eligibility depends on the individual funding scheme and the carer’s legal or household circumstances. Some schemes use parental-responsibility tests, while others consider who the child normally lives with. Legends Care cannot make an entitlement decision.
No. Legends Care can explain its fees and provide factual childcare information, but eligibility decisions are made by the relevant government body.
The community-supported rate is intended for families without external childcare funding. The applicable Legends Care price is confirmed during enrolment after the family’s circumstances have been discussed.
05
Legends Care is committed to transparency regarding childcare costs. While we proudly provide a community-supported rate for families without external funding, government schemes like Universal Credit, Tax-Free Childcare, and Student Grants are managed entirely independently.
We cannot make entitlement decisions or combine our community rate with these external schemes, but we are here to provide clear, factual information to help you plan your care effectively.
06
A personalised care plan records the child’s agreed priorities and preferences during their time at Legends Care. We work with you to balance individual choices with structured activities to create a supportive, engaging environment.
A personalised care plan records the child’s agreed priorities and preferences during their time at Legends Care. This may include a realistic balance of quiet time, homework support, active sessions, creative opportunities, social time and confidence-building activities.
The initial discussion takes place during enquiry or enrolment and is developed before or shortly after the child begins attending.
Yes. The child’s experience and parent feedback can be reviewed after the child starts, and the agreed priorities may be adjusted where appropriate.
No. Preferences guide the plan, but activities remain subject to the timetable, staffing, age, suitability and what is reasonably available during the session.
No. Homework support or academic activity may form part of the care plan, but formal tuition should only be presented as included where a separate service has been explicitly confirmed.
No. Separate educational, faith-based, cookery or specialist services must not be assumed to form part of standard Legends Care provision. Any separate programme must be confirmed independently.
additional needs & inclusion
07
Parents can discuss additional needs during enquiry and enrolment. The team considers the child’s circumstances individually and explains what arrangements may be appropriate within the setting.
No. One-to-one support is not automatically included in standard care. Any additional staffing or specialist arrangement would need to be assessed, agreed and confirmed separately.
No. The initial website enquiry should contain only basic contact and care information. Medical, safeguarding or other sensitive documents should be shared only through an appropriate secure process when requested.
Parents should include the child’s age, school, required days, type of care and preferred location. They can also briefly state that additional arrangements may need to be discussed without sending sensitive documentation.

08
Yes. Holiday clubs are already operating on published dates. Each programme should confirm the venue, opening times, planned activities and applicable price.
Not necessarily. Parents should use the venue shown in the current published programme rather than assuming every holiday club runs at both settings.
Holiday programmes may include creative activities, active play, games, STEM-style sessions, workshops, confidence-building opportunities and social time. The exact content varies by holiday period.
HAF stands for Holiday Activities and Food. It is a government-funded programme coordinated locally during selected school holidays for eligible children.
HAF is commonly aimed at children who receive benefits-related free school meals. This is different from universal infant free school meals. Local eligibility and any discretionary places are determined by the current council programme.
No. Legends Care participation, dates, venues and availability must be confirmed separately for each commissioned holiday period.
No. Eligibility, current programme availability and final confirmation must all be completed before a place should be treated as secured.
Paid holiday-club sessions are separate from HAF and may be available to the wider Legends Care age group, subject to the published programme and availability.
